The Austin Outfit Report (Spoiler: The Girls Got DRESSED)
We went to Texas with our friends at Urban Outfitters. Here's what we saw in the wardrobe department.

In partnership with Urban Outfitters, we went to Austin to report on their Youniverse initiative and experience their events — including our own panel with Urban and their Tierra Whack concert. Here's a glimpse at what we were up to in Austin alongside Urban.
Greetings from Austin, which is categorically not a fashion city. In the bucket of things Austin has going for itself are music, weather, waterside activities, outdoor activities, and tacos. Squarely outside of that bucket: good outfits. There is something about this city that will forever feel like 2014. It’s covered in Obama-era clothing. Jeans and tops — like top tops and tight jeans — ankle booties, tight leather jackets, and short sleeve, button-down shirts run rampant. It’s a city that makes you wonder, what’s happening in everyone’s moodboard? Are there moodboards? Do I live in a tinier bubble than I thought? Yes, definitely. And yet, on this particular weekend, Urban Outfitters threw a series of events that seemed to bring out a different Austin dresser, one that tested the limits of Texas wear.
No matter the city, sizing up the fashion is always a worthwhile activity. Why is everyone wearing that one random brand’s cargo pants? What is with the girls insisting upon wearing massive, circular sunglasses? As trivial as they may sound, these are the questions that can help us understand a place. In Austin on this particular weekend, concert-goers gave Austin a (slightly) better name for itself in the wardrobe department. Oversized denim, actually, a lot of denim, shirt jackets, cowboy boots, vintage t-shirts, mesh tops, billowing skirts, and even red socks made cameos at Urban Outfitters’ events over the weekend. Here’s a glimpse at what we saw.
